Maximizing Storage and Creating a Loft Feeling

Stephanie Houghton took on the challenge of renovating and decorating a second floor that was an addition to a bungalow. The space was dark and cramped, but Stephanie had a vision to create a bright and airy treetop oasis. By ripping down walls and ceilings, she revealed more ceiling height and created a loft feeling. She also designed storage solutions to maximize space and functionality.

Bringing Indian-Inspired Decor into the Space

The homeowners, Drew and Deepti, were born in India, so Stephanie wanted to incorporate a touch of their heritage into the design. She chose soft colors and fabrics with Indian motifs like paisleys and block prints. The headboard and mirror were also chosen to reflect Indian design elements.

Creating a Luxurious and Functional Bathroom

Stephanie transformed the original two separate rooms into a large master ensuite. She removed the wall between the rooms to create more space. She used concrete tiles with a herringbone pattern for the floor and watery-colored wall tiles to create a natural and organic feel. The custom vanity made of warm oak provides ample storage and functionality.
