Creating a Relaxing Atmosphere

When redesigning my clients' home, the main goal was to create a space where they could feel relaxed. To achieve this, I focused on incorporating elements that evoked a coastal, California vibe.

The first step was to choose a soft palette of colors that mimicked the natural hues found by the ocean. I opted for shades of white, beige, and blue to create a serene ambiance throughout the home.

In addition to the color palette, texture played a key role in enhancing the coastal feel. I used natural materials such as rattan, jute, and linen to add a tactile quality to the space.

By combining the right colors and textures, we were able to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home.

Bringing the Outside In

Another important aspect of achieving the LA look was to seamlessly blend the indoor and outdoor spaces. This was accomplished by incorporating elements from nature throughout the home.

One way to bring the outside in is by using plants and greenery as decorative accents. I strategically placed potted plants and hanging baskets to create a natural and organic atmosphere.

Additionally, I incorporated natural textures in the furniture and decor. Wicker chairs, wooden tables, and seagrass rugs added a touch of nature to each room, further enhancing the coastal theme.

By connecting the interior space with the natural surroundings, we were able to create a harmonious and calming environment.

If you're inspired by the coastal, California look and want to recreate it in your own home, here are some key items to consider:

- Coastal-themed throw pillows: Add a pop of color and pattern to your sofa or bed with decorative pillows featuring coastal motifs like seashells and coral.

- Rattan furniture: Incorporate natural materials like rattan chairs or a rattan coffee table to add texture and warmth to your space.

- Blue and white ceramics: Display vases, bowls, and other decorative accessories in shades of blue and white to evoke a coastal feel.

- Linen curtains: Opt for light and breezy linen curtains in neutral tones to create a soft and airy ambiance.

- Seagrass rugs: Lay down seagrass rugs in your living room or bedroom to bring in the natural texture of coastal grasses.

By adding these elements to your home, you can bring the coastal, California look to life.
