One of the best ways to support the literary community is by shopping at indie bookstores. Not only do they offer a wide range of unique books, but they also provide a nurturing environment for lesser-known authors to thrive. During my latest book haul adventure, I made sure to visit some indie bookstores and discovered some incredible hidden gems.

One book that caught my attention was 'The Midnight Library' by Matt Haig. This heartwarming story delves into the power of second chances and the importance of finding meaning in our lives. Another gem I stumbled upon was 'Mexican Gothic' by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. This gothic horror novel takes place in 1950s Mexico and is filled with suspense and mystery.

Celebrating Diversity with BLM Book Recommendations

In light of the Black Lives Matter movement, it's important to amplify Black voices and stories. That's why I've curated a collection of thought-provoking books that tackle important issues surrounding race and systemic racism. By reading these books, we can educate ourselves and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by Black communities.

One book that I highly recommend is 'The Hate U Give' by Angie Thomas. This powerful novel follows the story of Starr Carter, a young Black girl who witnesses the fatal shooting of her unarmed friend by a police officer. Through Starr's perspective, the book explores themes of racism, police brutality, and activism.

Another impactful book is 'How to Be an Antiracist' by Ibram X. Kendi. This book provides a comprehensive guide on how to combat racism and become actively antiracist. It challenges readers to critically examine their own biases and take a stand against systemic racism.
